Roy Marsh is one of the very few Tested Black Belts in the world under Legendary UFC Hall-of-Famer, Royce Gracie: the man responsible for introducing the world to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. He is the only Royce Gracie Black Belt in Central Europe.
Roy has been training since 2000 and was awarded his Black Belt after passing a very difficult test in front of Royce Gracie, Pedro Valente Sr. (one of only 14 Red Belts ever awarded outside the Gracie Family), the Valente Brothers, and a large panel of their Black Belts.
This test was not a mere formality as many of the people who have taken this test have failed. Receiving a Black Belt under Royce is rare since he requires a complete knowledge and proficiency in ALL aspects of the martial art created by his father, Grandmaster Helio Gracie. This includes Striking, Standing Self-Defense, Takedowns, Groundwork, and an examination of Ethical Fortitude.
He is highly regarded for his technical knowledge and conceptual instruction focused on a deep understanding of the mechanics of Jiu-Jitsu. This is coupled with his exceptional ability to convey this information in a way that anyone can understand and benefit from it.
Mr. Marsh has been a No-Gi World Champion, Multiple No-Gi Pan American, NY Open Gold Medalist, and NAGA National Champion.
Roy has also worked closely with U.S. Army Groups on Ft. Bragg and is an Advisor to the 82 Airborne Division Combatives and Advanced Tactics Program, and is Level 2 Certified in Modern Army Combatives.
Roy has trained in MMA, Judo, Muay Thai, Wing Chun Kung Fu and holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hapkido.
Mr. Marsh has also coached many successful BJJ & MMA Competitors.
